The Mets drop the rubber game against the Nationals on Sunday by a walk off hit.

Keys of the game:

Willie Harris hits a bunt single for the first hit of the game in the 1st inning.

Daniel Murphy continues to swing the bat well, singling in the 6th inning.

David Wright singles in the 6th inning.

The Nationals score 2 runs in the 6th inning. 2-0 Nationals.

Scott Hairston homers in the 7th inning for the Mets first run. Nationals lead 2-1.

NINTH INNING

Angel Pagan  grounds out. 1 out.

Jason Bay grounds out. 2 out.

SCOTT HAIRSTON HITS A SOLO HOME RUN TO TIE THE GAME AT 2. His second of the game.

The Nationals score in the bottom of the ninth to beat the Mets 3-2.

Notes: Not much offense this game. The 2 Mets runs came from Scott Hairston with 2 homers to left. Nationals pitching prevailed and the energy in day games for the Mets lack as always. The Mets will play tomorrow night at 7 against the Marlins in New York.

 

Beltran about to move West

Update: 1:55- At first it looked like the Mets would be getting Gary Brown. Now it looks like they're getting Zach Wheeler. 

Update: 1:40- Looks like he is gone...

My two cents? Beltran will be a Giant before the Mets game tonight.

What has happened to David Wright's arm?

I am so glad that David Wright is back with the Mets since he is my favorite player. He has done well with the bat so far. But what has happened to his arm? His throwing has not always been the best - that is probably the biggest knock about his abilities. But in this past series, he made every play close, even those that didn't have to be.

He seems to be tossing the ball over instead of firing it over. After all, the throw from third to first is the longest one to make. And yet, it seems like he is just slinging the ball over. Now, if we had a better first baseman, I wouldn't be as worried. But we currently have a first base by committee platoon situation.

David needs to work on his throwing or down the line, he could be moved to a different position -  or a different team

 

 

Trade Looming?

It's only a matter of time before Carlos is traded, and I will surly miss him, however I completely understand why the Mets are doing this, especially if Sandy and Co. can get a top tier prospect. 

PAGAN WALK-OFF!

The Mets win on Wednesday night due to a walk off home run in the 10th inning by Angel Pagan.

CARLOS BELTRAN TIES THE GAME WITH A 2 RUN HOME RUN IN THE 5TH INNING.

After Jason Pridie walks, he steals second base in the 7th inning.

The Cardinals take a 5-4 lead in the 8th.

JOSH THOLE HITS AN RBI SINGLE TO TIE THE TIME.

Carlos Beltran grounds into a double play, 3 outs. Extra Innings.

10th INNING

ANGEL PAGAN HITS A WALK OFF HOME RUN TO WIN THE GAME 6-5 METS.

The Mets win play a afternoon game tomorrow starting at 12 ET.

Notes: The first walk off home run by the Mets this season! The first of Angel Pagans career. What a game. The Mets were down 4-0 and came back and never gave up. Carlos Beltran's two run homer really helped and Josh Thole had a great game. The Mets never give up. They will go for the sweep against the Cardinals tomorrow afternoon.

 

 

METS LOSE TO PHILS, 8-5.

The Mets lose to the Phillies 8-5 on Sunday to be back at the .500 mark for the season.

Mets Record: 47-47

Keys of the game:

Willie Harris singles in the first inning, he later doubled in the third.

Lucas Duda hits his 9th double of the season in the second inning. 

The Phillies take a 4-0 lead in the 5th.

Ronny Paulino doubles in the 7th inning. 

Scott Harriston hits an RBI single to score Paulino. 5-1 Phillies.

The Phillies take an 8-1 lead in the 8th inning.

8TH INNING

Willie Harris scores in the 8th inning to make the score 8-2.

Ronny Paulino singles to score Daniel Murphy.

Angel Pagan hits an RBI single. The Mets come within 4 runs in the 8th.

Jurin Turner strikes out with the bases loaded to end the inning.

Daniel Murphy doubles in the ninth inning.

LUCAS DUDA HITS AN RBI TRIPLE IN THE 9TH. 8-5 PHILLIES.

Ronny Paulino grounds out to end the game.

 

Notes: Mets fans can settle with a 1 out of 3 win from the Phils. I mean come on, its the Phillies. One big argument you can make is that Reyes and Beltran were not playing, and they have been a key aspect latley. There was some sign of comeback in the 8th but they could not captailize. Up side? Still .500.

mets save $17.5 million; trade K-Rod to Brewers

In news no one expected, with no rumors at a K-rod deal imminent closer Francisco Rodriguez has been traded to the Brewers. With this deal, the Mets will save $17.5 million that would have gone to K-Rod if his option vested, which was going to happen since he already had 34 games finished, and all he need was 55 to get that load of cash.

Giants Even Series With Mets

The Mets lose to the Giants 3-1 Saturday night due to good pitching by the Giants and failed opportunities by the Mets.

Mets Record: 46-44

Carlos Beltran doubles in the first inning, making that his 28th of the season.

Daniel Murphy doubles to score Beltran, the Mets lead 1-0.

The Giants score 2 runs in the bottom of the first, 2-1 Giants.

Justin Turner hits a double to right in the 5th inning.

In the top of the sixth, Josh Thole doubles to right field.

The Giants score one run in the 7th inning, 3-1 Giants.

Nick Evans grounds out, 1 out.

Ronny Paulino strikes out, 2 out. 

Rueben Tejada walks on a full count. Runner on first.

Scott Harriston strikes out to end the game.

The Mets will play the rubber game of the series tomorrow in S.F.

Notes: What a roller coaster week its been for the Mets. Win,loss,win,loss. Failed opportunities by the Mets like double plays need to be turned. Once Reyes, Wright and Davis come back this may be different. The Mets will play tomorrow to see who wins the series. 

Another one bites the dust

This hurts. I truly thought Reyes would be day-to-day. The Mets have dealt with adversity all year, but this will be a tough test. They are now missing the best player in the MLB for three weeks. I truly hope it's only three weeks. Oh, and welcome back Nick Evans.
