Adam Rubin at The Daily News writes how Omar Minaya is unlikely willing to trade for Julio Lugo and his 13.5 million dollar salary, but will most likely sign Lugo when he becomes a free agent in a week.
Makes sense to me from a financial stand point. However, as a resident of the Boston area, I'm not feeling good about Julio Lugo becoming a Met. He is very overrated at the plate and in the field. Omar has consistently talked about not bringing in guys that will have no where to play after players from the disabled list returns so I really hope this is not a sign of Reyes being out for the season.
Over at Oh Murph they bring up a bunch of funny different items that the Wilpons could have spent their money on instead of some of the current players on the Mets roster.
At The 'Ropolitans they speak about how the next 14 games against the Nats,Rockies,Astros and the Diamondbacks could be the most important games of the season.
With the trading deadline coming up along with a period of time where we will see if we are going to get players back, I tend to agree that these 14 games will be make or break. However, the point could be made that with the way the Phillies are playing, we may have already dug ourselves too deep of a hole.
Lastly, over at Faith and Fear in Flushing they have an interesting article about Neil Armstrong landing on the moon 40 years ago today. They talk about what was going on with the Mets at the time as well.
