In the last 13 games Carlos Delgado has raised his average from .215 to .246 hitting over .350 during that span. Unfortunately he has no home runs, in fact he hasn’t hit a home run in the last 15 games he is played in. That’s over 50 plate appearances without a home run.
Tom Seaver was in the Mets booth yesterday talking baseball but also pushing his new wine. That’s right Tom terrific is making wine. I hope its strong because we could all use drink after watching the Mets. Pass some around Tom.
Damion Easley already has 107 plate appearances and is on track to have over 250 plate appearances. That would be his most plate appearances since the 2005 season. It wouldn’t be so bad except for the fact that Damion is a career .252 hitter.
Endy Chavez is a consistent
hitter. He hit .226 in April, .204 in May and is hitting .200
in June. Carlos Beltran, on the other hand, is the epitome of inconsistency.
He hit .200 in April, .306 in May and is hitting .243 in June.
Fernando Tatis hit .281 in
May. Unfortunately he is hitting .100 in June.
David Wright is hitting .250 in June which is not too far from the .287 he hit in April and the .272 he hit in May but the biggest difference is his slugging percentage. He slugged .511 in April, .530 in May and is slugging .333 in June. In fact he has nine hits in June and only one has been for an extra base hit, that was last night’s homer.
Aaron Heilman is off to a good June. He has pitched 2.1 innings without allowing a run. It’s a very small sample but that’s three appearances without a run. Consider this, Heilman has not had more than 4 consecutive scoreless appearances this year. His record this year for most innings pitched without a run stands this season at 4.2. Would you believe this is the same pitcher that strung together 11 scoreless appearances in 2006 and 12 in 2005?
Scott Schoeneweis is following up a awesome May with a miserable June. Scott had a 0.64 era in May. In 14 innings he gave up 8 hits 3 walks while giving up only one earned run. It was his best month ever since becoming a full time reliever in 2002. His run started on Apr 22 and he pitched 18 innings and only gave up 1 run. During that run he strung 10 appearances together without giving up a run.
